In a session led by head of fitness Tony Strudwick and conducted under the watchful gaze of boss Louis van Gaal and his coaches, the Reds were put through their paces at the regular home of Wednesday’s Chevrolet Cup opponents, LA Galaxy.
Summer signings Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw were among the 25-man squad working hard in sultry conditions, in preparation for that first pre-season match, which takes place at the larger Rose Bowl in nearby Pasadena.
Before then, thousands of US fans will get the rare chance to see the team take part in an open training session, also at the Rose Bowl, on Tuesday night (19:00 local time).

The frontman was not among the party that jetted out from Manchester on Friday but will link up with the Reds on the eve of the friendly against LA Galaxy (kick-off 20:06 local time on Wednesday, 04:06 BST on Thursday).

Upon arrival, Louis van Gaal and his team headed straight for a stroll on the city's famous Santa Monica beach, before checking in at their hotel in Beverly Hills, stopping to meet dozens of fans outside.
The Reds’ busy tour schedule begins with a training session at on Saturday morning, as van Gaal puts his men through their paces ahead of his first game in charge, against LA Galaxy on Wednesday.
