Rashford strike tops United fan poll
Marcus Rashford's fantastic strike against West Ham United in the Emirates FA Cup has been voted Manchester United's Goal of the Month for April.
The 18-year-old's effort at Upton Park was on the eight-strong video shortlist published on ManUtd.com last week and finished top of the poll when voting closed on Friday.
Fans will recall how Rashford collected Anthony Martial’s pass, made room for himself and curled a brilliant finish past Hammers goalkeeper Darren Randolph into the top corner. This opened the scoring in the quarter-final replay and Louis van Gaal's men went on to win 2-1, of course, with Marouane Fellaini also on target for the visitors.
Former United striker Andy Ritchie said on MUTV: "It was a fantastic finish, out of his feet and he just needed half a yard to bend it into the top corner. The 'keeper had no chance."
Rashford's FA Cup cracker received 43 per cent of the votes on the website, while Martial's effort in the semi-final against Everton was April's runner-up with 31 per cent. In third place, with 18 per cent was Matteo Darmian's historic first goal for United, a well-taken volley in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. The other five goals shared the remaining eight per cent.
April's Goal of the Month also made it into the final four for Goal of the Season, but Rashford was pipped in that particular poll by Martial's September strike against Liverpool on his dream United debut.
